How to Use Affiliate Marketing to Boost Your Income

Mar 09, 2020

You need to be mindful that your audience know, like and trust you and that trust can be broken instantly if you promote something without integrity.

In this video I'm going to share with you how you can create a completely separate revenue stream to increase your income in 2020. It's by using affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is quite simply when you promote or sell somebody else's item. This could be as simple as you promoting a book that you loved and being an Amazon partner. So when someone clicks on that link and buys the book, you get a small commission. Or it can be as big as promoting maybe one of your mentors or a programme or a course or a brand that you absolutely love and that you can promote with passion. Then what happens is that brand or coach, whoever it might be, will pay you a commission for promoting their service or product.

Affiliate marketing can be done so beautifully, but I want to share with you two things that you need to be really mindful of if you're considering affiliate marketing in your business.

Number one, only promote things, services and items that you have personally used and that you love. Don't be lured in by the extra cash. If you haven't used a brand or a product or service, my advice, and this is just my personal opinion, is that you shouldn't really be an affiliate for it. If you know and love the brand, then absolutely share it with your audience. So only promote something that you truly love and that you're passionate about. The items that I share and the people that I work with as an affiliate are Kajabi and James Wedmore's business by design. That's it. My audience know that I'm an affiliate for those. I'm always very, very transparent about it and I promote both of them because I love them and they have made the biggest impact in my business so far.

The second thing to be really mindful of is the law. Being an affiliate you must be transparent about it. So if you are using Amazon links, for example, in your blog posts, so when people click on those links, they generate you a little bit of extra cash as commission from Amazon, that's absolutely perfect. But you need to make sure that your readers are aware of this and you can simply put an asterix at the bottom of the blog or at the beginning of the blog to let people know that within this blog may contain affiliate links. Exactly the same if you are promoting something the same as I would for James or for Kajabi. I let people know that should they purchase their products, I will get a commission from Kajabi or James. So affiliate marketing can be a wonderful way of boosting revenue and sharing something amazing with your audience.

Here's the great thing, your audience are going to get the benefit of something you have benefited from. So in my example, I have worked with James through business by design. He has really helped me transform my business. Why wouldn't I want to share that with my audience? So if you're looking at creating an additional revenue stream in your business, which is such a good idea because you want to make sure you're diversifying the way income is coming through to you, affiliate marketing is a great place to start.
